Sometimes it takes a significant event to change the path we take in our lives. For me that event was a minor blip – fortunately.

Here in the Northeast United States we “suffered” through a storm – a nor’easter. We lost power for just under a week and navigated our way around downed trees and power lines. Several homes were damaged from the strong winds and falling timbers. Numerous families experienced flooded basements as sump pumps fell silent without their steady diet of electricity. The governor declared a state of emergency.

In the grand scheme of things, our storm was little more than an inconvenience. The world has recently been rocked by natural disasters that make our plight seem as gentle as a spring breeze. Yet it was this event that made me open my eyes and see my work and family life in a whole new light.

While we go through the motions every day of getting our things done, time continues to march on. And where we may accomplish what we need to do we can easily miss achieving the things that we really want. Sometimes we are just too busy to set our sights a bit higher.

And so, before this awareness slips out of my grasp – here I am embarking on a new endeavor. Pursuing my passions – striving to succeed in the things that are most important to me.

I am a wife and also a mother to four children. My family always comes first. I wouldn’t have it any other way. But it is far too easy for family life to become all consuming – threatening to snuff out the spark in me that inspires them.

A few years ago I felt at risk of losing my own individuality and interests. In an effort to define myself I turned to the internet with a goal of making money online while continuing to maintain a flexible schedule. The satisfaction gained through earning an income goes a long way towards self validation. Like a sponge, I soaked up any information I could find about blogging, search engine optimization, and search engine marketing. With no web background (I am a CPA by trade) I learned everything from the ground up. By night – in my spare time – I built blogs, websites, and niche sites through trial and error. I came to the realization that I had found a true interest.

As I explored the internet and it’s possibilities my old Windows computer could not keep up. I made the switch to an Apple Mac computer and never looked back. I had found another passion.

But finding that balance between my online business ventures, technical interests, and my family life continues to require a high level of order and an extremely organized life that I am constantly struggling to reach. And, yes, success in all three areas can only be found by One Mighty Woman.

Success is defined differently by every person. Hopes and dreams are shaped by our own experiences. But whatever the goal – the road is still long and full of obstacles that must be overcome. It is something that we all have in common.

This site is dedicated to the strength and tenacity of that One Mighty Woman in each of us.

Wanted to stop by and wish you the best in your endeavor. Much like you, a major storm (or flood rather) prompted me to seek change. I’ll be adding One Mighty Woman to my reader and will be checking back often!

Thanks Gayla ~
I read your flood story and have been inspired to at least think about selling off a few blog properties. It seems that things are looking up for the both of us!
