I have always been a fan of Statcounter for tracking my site activity. It is easy to install and easy to navigate. I have been using the free version for years.
But I admittedly have never taken a good look at the install code. Over the past few weeks I have had to revisit this code for a few different sites and have noticed some strange links within. If I am not mistaken – there are links to pages on the Statcounter that are built around some third party services – like blogger, godaddy, tumbler, vbulletin etc.
I am not sure whether this is ok or if it amounts to something sneaky. I know that hidden links are a no-no when it comes to Google.
At this point, I am considering using Google Analytics as my sole stat package.
Has anyone else noticed this? Any thoughts or ideas?

I don’t use statcounter– but I use sitemeter and I’ve been happy with it!
